GR Symphony Launches Daily Online Series
by Paul Austin
On March 27, 2020, the Grand Rapids Symphony (GRS) launched an online media series to keep the music going during the COVID-19 pandemic.
From Our Home To Yours is an opportunity for GRS followers to hear musical moments from GRS musicians, staff, and affiliates in the chorus, Youth Symphony, and Youth Chorus.
The GRS press release gives complete details of this project.

GRS Vice President and General Manager Aaron Doty shares that "In times of uncertainty, music provides comfort, enjoyment, and inspiration. We are grateful to the Grand Rapids community for its continued support; our daily performances at 9:00 a.m. are a way for people to bring the Grand Rapids Symphony into your home every day. We are so thankful to our wonderful musicians, and to the entire GRS family, for sharing their musical gifts in these daily performances." (Watch for GRSMA's interview with Aaron Doty in our Fall 2020 newsletter.)
In addition, the GRS's virtual performance of Handel's "Hallelujah" Chorus from Messiah was released the weekend of Easter. The video included 70 musicians from the Grand Rapids Symphony and GRS Chorus, and it was widely shared on social media plus local and national news outlets. In fact, it aired at the end of the April 10th broadcast of Inside Edition. To view, visit the GRS website at GRSymphony.org/hallelujah.
GRSMA members are pleased to contribute to these online activities, and we look forward to the day when we can return to the concert stage to perform for live audiences. Until then, check out the symphony's website (www.grsymphony.org) to view From Our Home To Yours.
